2000 Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou
Tasting Note:September 18, 2015
Beautifully aged in color, brick red, hints of brown probably due to age. Great nose, very earthy and lots of barnyard. Tannins are still strong and powerful, full bodied. Dry finish like classic French Bordeaux. Tasted blind. Absolutely delicious, great structure, well integrated and can definitely keep going. Did not taste 15 years old!
Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou is a Second Growth from St. Julien. Fun fact, only wines from the Left Bank of Bordeaux are a part of the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855. The 2000 vintafe is a Bordeaux blend made up of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. Additionally this was aged for 18 months in 80% new French oak.
