2015 Rust en Vrede Cape Winemakers Guild Auction Estate
Dark and deep garnet with with a little bit of ruby in the core. Lovely nose with layers of vanilla, cinnamon, cedar, earth and black currants. Medium plus tannins (7/10) and full bodied. A bit of wood and earth on the palate with some chalky gravel, black currants and cassis. Long and lingering dry finish.
Seventeenth wine at the Friday Auction Tasting for the Cape Winemakers Guild and the sixth red wine. This is made up of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Syrah, 5% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot by Coenie Snyman from the Stellenbosch region. Aged for a total of twenty-two months prior to bottling. Only 53 cases of 750 ml produced with 36 being auctioned in 2018. Additionally there were 13 cases of magnums with 10 being auctioned in 2018.
