2015 Jordan Cape Winemakers Guild Sophia

Tasting Note:September 28, 2018

Dark garnet red with a touch of ruby. A bit dirty on the nose with leather, baking spices and dark cherries. Needs a bit of time to open up on the nose. Medium plus tannins (7/10) and medium plus body. Gritty on the palate with some earthiness, cinnamon and dark berries. Long finish.


Twentieth wine at the Friday Auction Tasting for the Cape Winemakers Guild and the ninth red wine. This is made up of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot by Gary Jordan from the Stellenbosch region. Aged for a total of 24 months in 85% new French oak barrels prior to bottling. Only 69 cases produced with 44 being auctioned in 2018.
