2016 Robert Biale Petite Sirah Royal Punishers

Estate: Robert Biale Vineyards

Region: Napa Valley, North Coast, California, United States of America

Tasting Note:September 12, 2018

First Biale bottling for us and it did not disappoint, definitely has excited us and we want to try more. Insanely dark purplish ruby in appearance. Dark and brooding on the nose with some cassis, blueberries, dark gravel, asian five spice, anise and dark flowers. Even a touch savory. Medium plus to full bodied with medium plus (7/10). Very dry palate with dark berries, blackberries, cherries, gravel, and cinnamon on the attack. As it opens up it gets a bit more gravelly, oak and savory. Medium plus to long finish.

First Robert Biale wine for us and we were definitely impressed. Made up of 100% Petite Sirah from vineyards in the Rutherford AVA of Napa Valley. Aged for 17 months in 30% new French oak.
