2012 Durant & Booth Reserve
Region: Napa Valley, North Coast, California, United States of America
Tasting Note:May 29, 2017
Tasted blind against the D&B Malbec. Deep and dark ruby red. Super dark on the nose with layers of gravel, spices, cocoa and tobacco. Heavy tannins (7.5/10) and full bodied. Rich yet restrained on the palate with notes of dark berries, and chalk. Day two the complexity only increased with oak influence, cinnamon and vanilla. Excellent structure and long finish. A touch of heat comes through.
This is a blend of 46% Cabernet Franc, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Malbec, 5% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. Aged for 24 months in 85% new French oak. Great inaugural vintage with amazing potential and value. Only 982 cases produced.
