2014 Elephant Seven Yellow Bird Vineyard Syrah

Estate: Elephant Seven Winery
Region: Walla Walla Valley, Columbia Valley, Washington State, United States of America
Vineyards: Yellow Bird Vineyard

Tasting Note:March 22, 2017

Medium to deep ruby red. Powerful nose with dark berries, cinnamon and even more baking spices. Definite floral influence too from the viognier and a touch of herbs in the finish. Moderate tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Layered palate that is a touch spicy with white pepper, black olives but still has a solid amount of dark fruits, like boysenberry and some blueberries. Mid palate brings on some additional characteristics of dark cocoa, nutmeg and crushed rocks. Overall has a solid undertones that are a bit meaty and savory. Long and lingering finish.

Inaugural vintage for Elephant Seven Winery, this specific bottling is the Yellow Bird Vineyard Syrah made of 94% Syrah and co-fermented with 6% Viogner. All the fruit is sourced from the Yellow Bird Vineyard, owned by the Chan Family and farmed by Kenny Hart, located atop the Blue Mountains.
