2014 Benevolent Neglect Syrah

Estate: Benevolent Neglect Wines
Region: Carneros, Sonoma County, California, United States of America
Vineyard: Las Madres Vineyard

Tasting Note:May 11, 2016

Second vintage of the Las Madres Syrah from Benevolent Neglect Wines. Deep and dark ruby red with a purplish hue. Love the attack of the nose. Coated with iron and gamey notes. Nose started to mellow out with some more complex notes of limestone, and spiced or curried veggies. Definitely felt like a top tier Northern Rhone-style Syrah. Slight minerality and olives on the palate. Smooth and rounded with some savory elements. Moderate tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus body. Some woody textures in the finish, long and lingers. Just keeps getting more complex as it breathes. Expect this to get even better with age but drinking deliciously right now.

100% Syrah made of 40% whole clusters. Only 143 cases produced.
