2017 Standard Deviation Sauvignon Blanc

Tasting Note:March 16, 2019

Light greenish yellow in appearance. Clean on the nose with some honeyed nuances, wet gravel and stone fruits. Medium plus acidity (6.5/10) with a medium minus body. Crisp palate with citrus zest, lemon, a touch of grass, minerality and honeydew melon. Medium plus length finish.


Second wine at Elyse Winery before the Taste of Yountville. This definitely felt like a day two tasting. Fruit is all the Friulan clone of Sauvignon Blanc from a single vineyard in Bennett Valley. Aged in 50% new French oak and made by Justin Harmon.

Tasting Note:May 27, 2018

Light lemon yellow with a greenish hue. Powerful nose with stone and citrus fruits like lemons, peaches, some melon and strong minerality. Medium acidity (6.5/10) and medium to medium plus bodied. Creamy attack with some heft to it and notes of citrus and stone fruits. A little bit of grass on the backend too. Long finish.


Second stop on day three and finally made it to Napa. We tasted through some wines from Standard Deviation Wines and Addax Wines with Josh and Cheryl at Brasswood. First up is the Sauvignon Blanc from Standard Deviation. Fruit is all the Friulan clone of Sauvignon Blanc from a single vineyard in Bennett Valley. Aged in 50% new French oak and made by Justin Harmon.
