2013 Mountain Queen Productions In The Hall of the Mountain Queen

Estate: Mountain Queen Productions

Region: Red Mountain, Columbia Valley, Washington State, United States of America

Tasting Note:March 1, 2018

Perfect way to start of #WAWINEMONTH with this bottle from Full Pull Wines. Deep ruby red in appearance. Dark spices on the nose with candied blackcherries, cinnamon, and a little herbal. Seems to have closed down a bit since last time. Medium plus tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Dry on the palate with black currants, cassis, sweet spices and dried herbs. Long and lingering finish.

Slightly upset over this one, wish I could find more. This bottling was a one time affair through Full Pull Wines in Washington State. That being said there is a lot of mystery behind this wine since the winemaker, vineyard, and winery are all redacted. All I know about this wine is that it is made up of around 75% Cabernet Sauvignon with the remaining made up of Merlot and Petit Verdot. It was aged for over 24 months in 65% new French oak and the fruit is from one of the top vineyards in the Red Mountain AVA in Columbia Valley.

Drink Dates:

Deep ruby red with a purplish hue. Lovely nose, quite thick too with an attack of caramel and cinnamon mix, followed up with a smokey hint, vanilla, dried earth and lots of oak. Cassis undertone as well. Heavy tannins (7.5/10) and full bodied. Needed a little bit of air but then opened up beautifully. Very savory on the palate with tons of black currants, sage and dried herbs. Dry and long finish. Would love to find out who the winemaker/winery is behind this and try out some more of their wines. Will easily drink well for the next decade.
