2014 Band of Vintners Cabernet Sauvignon Consortium

Estate: Band of Vintners

Region: Napa Valley, California, United States of America

Tasting Note:April 16, 2017

Deep ruby red with garnet edges. Fruit bomb on the nose with loads of red berries with a touch of cinnamon, nutmeg, herbs and dark floral notes. Moderate tannins (7/10) and medium plus body. A touch of heat on the palate, this is still a baby. Tannic backbone with lots of structure. Notes of dark black cherries, dark spices, cinnamon and a touch bitter in the long finish. Tons of potential. Would give this at least an hour decant or wait a couple of years.

There is a very interesting group of people behind this wine trying to make the best "Pound-for-Pound" Cabernet Sauvignon out of the valley and they are doing a great job at it. This is the inaugural offering which is made up of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc and is aged in once used French oak for 18 months. Definitely worth checking out if you love big Cabernet, cannot wait for the 2015!
