2013 Captûre Wines Innovant

Estate: Captûre Wines

Region: Sonoma County, California, United States of America

Tasting Note:April 12, 2017

Deep and dark mix of garnet and ruby red. Layered and dark nose with spices, cinnamon, mixed dark berries, and dark cocoa. Moderate tannins (7/10) and medium bodied. Muted palate with dark baking spices. Around 30 or so minutes longer it started to open up more with notes of dark black cherries, and a hint of minerality. More bordeaux in style than being a fruity napa red. Dry and long finish. Needs a bit of time to develop further.

Bordeaux-blend made up of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot and 13% Cabernet Franc from Alexander and Knights Valley. Ageded for 20 months in 50% new French oak barrels. Only 800 cases produced.
