Eno Wine Bar | Georgetown, Washington D.C.

We spent a little bit of time in the city this last weekend and found this amazing wine bar in Georgetown called the Eno Wine Bar. Honestly they have a pretty solid wine list and we have already picked out a couple more bottles we need to try when we get back out there to visit.

Eno Wine Bar has quite a few locations around the United States and seems to be doing quite well. Beautiful atmosphere, dimmed lights, very knowledgeable staff and great wine list. That's not all, they also have an extensive selection of domestic and imported cheeses and meats. All perfect for a romantic date night with that special someone, or taking out some friends to enjoy some new wines. We were there showing one of India's coworkers a little bit about what we love and are passionate about, new wines.

For starters we definitely need to take a few more photos of the places we go (don't worry just blame India). Now to the fun part. The wine.

Absolutely stunning, never heard of Vasse Felix but we have been waiting to dive deeper into Australian wines. The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is a part of Vasse Felix Wines Premier line of wines which include a Chardonnay, Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc-Semillon and this beauty. This vintage was comprised of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Malbec that was aged for 18 months in 100% French Oak, which 43% was new oak and the rest were between second to fifth fill oaks. The winemaker is Virginia Wilcock. The picture on the bottle is of a Peregrine Falcon, as we guess you can say a hommage to a failed attempt to eliminate native birds from destroying their vines. Take a look at their website to learn more. A definite must try estate for Australian Cabernet Sauvignon!

We honestly fell in love with this wine, and at $67.00 at a restaurant for a wine of this quality, it is a steal! Check out our tasting note.

2009 Vasse Felix Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Note:February 19, 2016

This wine was a deep garnet red. Loved the nose from the start. As some of you might know, we love a slightly stinky nose. It is not off putting to us at all. Nose started off dirty with a slight barnyard nose and moldy/smoked cheese. It developed into charred wood, smoke and a few vegetal notes such as green bell peppers. Heavy tannins (7/10), such a beautiful bite to it that we were not expecting. Solid acidity complemented the tannins and moderate plus body. Slightly savory on the palate with some light vegetal notes. Long and lingering dry finish. Would love to find some of this to buy. If this retailed for the price at Eno Wine Bar, it is still worth that, great QPR!
